House of Reeves destroyed in blaze

The building which housed the Reeves store has stood on the site in Croydon since 1867 and the owners are understood to be angry and deeply saddened by the events that unfolded last night.

One family member wrote on a dedicated Facebook page "I am a Reeves Great granddaughter, and have spent the night working in the A&E dept having to see the whites of their eyes as they come in with their injuries. I want them to explain to my children why they can't see what their family spent 5 generations doing for the local community of Croydon."
