Following the opening of the new wilko store at Liverpool Shopping Park in February, and to support wilko’s new charity partnership initiative to help families when they need it most, wilko presented Smithdown Primary School with £400 worth of wilko products.
The school is supported by Save the Children, one of wilko’s charity partners, and has been running targeted parental engagement programmes for the past four years helping parents to assist with their child’s learning at home and giving families the right tools, skills, and environment to give their children the best start in life. The donation featured a variety of toys and products to aid learning inside and outside the classroom.
Wilko Liverpool manager, Phil Pendleton said: “We’re delighted to donate products to Smithdown Primary School. It’s great to know we are able to support the local community and Save the Children’s vision, and in particular provide staff with resources to aid the children’s education.”
Programmes manager for North of England at Save the Children, Sarah Crosby said: “We’re delighted that through our new charity partnership with wilko, we have been able to support the children at Smithdown Primary School with such a brilliant range of games and activities. These will be of great benefit to the children in the school’s breakfast club and Playground Buddy Scheme, and will help to improve children’s social and educational learning.
Save the Children has been working with Smithdown Primary School since 2014, delivering our parental engagement programmes with great success.”
