North East garden centre adds third site to portfolio
Peter Barratt's has acquired the Vista Garden Centre in Hull to convert into its third store.
The move is set to boost the flourishing company's turnover to £20m by the end of the year.
Vista originally opened in August 2006 on a purpose built six-acre site on the outskirts of Beverley, Hull. All 32 staff currently employed by Vista will continue at the centre.
Peter Barratt's - founded in 1981 by husband and wife team Peter and Angela Barratt - has two stores in Gosforth and Stockton.
The business's ambitious goals include growing turnover of the Beverley store to £4m within two years.
The Beverley centre already has a specialist food hall with an on-site butcher, baker and locally produced food stalls, which Peter Barratt's is aiming to grow, as well as developing other departments on site, such as giftware and clothing.
Owner Peter Barratt said: "We've been looking to expand our operation for a few years now and the site in Beverley seemed a perfect match for our business plans. The site will provide us with a number of opportunities.
"We're also presently looking at options to open our fourth centre, preferably in places such as Harrogate, Leeds or York, to fully take advantage of our existing 35,000 sq ft warehouse distribution capacity in Team Valley."
