Royle visit for former Sefton Meadows Garden Centre

Published: 25 March 2008
It’s not every day that you get a member of the Royle family opening a garden centre in Maghull and yet on Good Friday that’s exactly what happened.

Not a member of the Royal family but Jim Royle aka Ricky Tomlinson performed the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11am along with the Mayor of Maghull at the new Trebaron Garden Centre (formerly Sefton Meadows).

Mike Withers MD called it a 'fantastic day', and said Mr Tomlinson was 'absolutely amazing'.

He added: "To get such a big name as Ricky Tomlinson to come here and help us with the Royle Opening celebrations was such a great coup. It was a real honour to have the Mayor of Maghull also attending.

"We have gone to great lengths to turn the garden centre into what it is today and the team here have been simply brilliant."

The former Sefton Meadows Garden Centre was purchased by Trebaron Garden Centre late last year saving more than 12 jobs in the town.

Since then a large investment has been made in the garden centre and the Royle Opening paid tribute to the loyal customers and publicly recognised all the hard work that the Trebaron team had put into the new centre.
