Pretty shades of grey

Published: 10 May 2021 - Neil Mead

Grey looks to be the colour of the summer according to new research by eco paint specialists Thorndown Paints.

Analysis of sales of their 2.5-litre tins of exterior wood paint reveal nine spots in the top 20 are taken up by grey shades, followed closely by whites then greens and then blues.

The data was obtained from sales figures for the period from January 2021 through to March 2021.

Caroline Thornborough, Director of Thorndown Paints, said: “Grey has been the go-to colour inside the home for quite some time, but it looks like homeowners are following the same trends outside.

“Whether it’s an expansive garden, an intimate yard or even the smallest of balconies, our outside spaces have become an extension of our living areas so it’s no surprise homeowners are adopting similar colour schemes to create a unified space.”

Among other projects, Thorndown Paints’ exterior wood paint can be used to bring to life wooden decking, fence panels and tired-looking sheds.
