Obituary: Jim Ferguson

Published: 20 July 2018 - Fiona Garcia

Home Hardware (Scotland) is very sad to announce that inspiration and founder member Jim Ferguson passed away on July 19, aged 71 following a short illness. His wife Celia, daughter Fiona and son Brian, were at his bedside.

Home Hardware (Scotland) said of Jim Ferguson “Since the inception of Home Hardware (Scotland) in 1983, Jim Ferguson strrived to create the building blocks of one of the UK’s most modern and forward-thinking distribution and hardware retail businesses.  Always taking the view that the survival of the independent hardware retailer was paramount, Jim Ferguson fought passionately to get the best deal for fellow members and would never allow the multiples to steal a market from the independents.

"Indeed it is Jim’s vision and passion that carries on with Home Hardware (Scotland) ltd into the future, with Jim’s daughter and son taking leading roles in the retail business of Wright Hardware and Home Hardware (Scotland) Ltd.

"Jim will be greatly missed by us all, and our thoughts are with his wife Celia, daughter Fiona and son Brian.
