Horticulture head and managers quit Wyevale Garden Centres

Published: 24 September 2014
Head of horticulture at Wyevale Garden Centres, Tim Clapp, is leaving the business and a number of garden centre managers have been made redundant.
Wyevale said of Mr Clapp, who is rumoured to be joining B&Q: "We thank Tim for the excellent work he has done during his eight years. He leaves behind a strong horticultural buying and planteria manager team which includes a great mix of horticultural and retail experts."

The company, which has 140 garden centres and was formerly known as The Garden Centre Group, also confirmed that some of its managers had gone, though how many was unspecified. In a statement to diyweek.net it said: "As we continue the process of transforming the company, we have been working within our garden centres to invest in the development of our teams, strengthen the balance of horticultural and retail expertise, structure resource across regions and ensure the right people are in the right roles.

"As a result of this evolution, some garden centre managers have left the company. We now have the management structure in place to provide an outstanding level of service and a top quality customer experience."
