Homebase opens in Chester with inspirational new store

Published: 30 June 2022 - James Mead

Homebase is bringing the best of its home and garden ranges to Chester with an inspirational new store on Greyhound Retail Park in time for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

The new 30,500 sq. ft store is the one-stop-shop for the products, expertise and inspiration customers need to fix, improve or transform their homes and gardens.

The opening has created 29 jobs in the local area, including five team members with over 40 years of experience at Homebase. Customers will find City & Guild accredited experts in-store, ready to answer customers’ questions about décor, garden, kitchen and bathroom design. There’s three Kitchen & Bathroom Experts, two Paint Experts, and two Garden Experts on hand to help with projects big and small.

Previously a unit occupied by John Lewis & Partners, this opening is an evolution of recent store openings in Abingdon, Bradford, Cheltenham, and Coventry. With a ceiling height of 3m and solid oak flooring throughout, this new Homebase has the department store feel the local community have been looking for.

Homebase Chester is a destination for furniture and home accessories, with on-trend collections for every room, from dining furniture and occasional chairs to cushions and candles. Inspirational room sets show customers how to get the look in their own home with QR codes that make it even easier with advice guides.

For those looking to redecorate, the store features a Dulux Paint Desk, which offers a paint mixing service, and other popular brands including Homebase Paint, Country Living, House Beautiful, Crown, Farrow & Ball, House Beautiful, Country Living, ELLE Decoration and Craig & Rose.

Wall panelling, flooring and tiling options to suit all styles and budgets can be found in-store, along with the tools customers need to get the job done.

There’s a variety of kitchen and Bathstore bathroom designs on show, including the exclusive House Beautiful and Country Living kitchens and House Beautiful bathroom furniture, and high-quality appliances from brands including Bosch, Neff and Miele. Expert advice is on hand from Homebase’s team members who can turn customers’ design ideas into a reality through free design consultations, using Homebase’s state-of-the-art visualisation software.

Summer has arrived in-store and the 6,200 sq. ft garden centre has all the garden furniture, outdoor décor, plants, pots, outdoor storage, and garden care customers need to transform their outdoor spaces. Customers can also buy pollinator friendly seeds, known for providing much-needed food and habitats for wildlife. Bee and insect houses have been installed in a bid to boost biodiversity and are available to purchase in-store.

'Order and Collect' is also available, making it even easier for customers to buy products from Homebase’s full range of more than 35,000 products, either online for pick up in-store within the hour or order in-store for home delivery.

Grant Anderson, Homebase Retail Director, comments:“We’re excited to be opening a store in Chester, and to be able to bring our products, inspiration and expertise to the local community.

“Whether customers are looking for on-trend ideas for their homes or new ways to bring their gardens to life, they’ll be able to do just that with Homebase. Our fantastic store team is ready to help, from finding the right products to handy hints and tips to make light work of any project.”
