Home Hardware commemorates founders
Sadly Eric Blanchard, of Blanchards Home Hardware in Bideford, and Frank's son Peter of Braunton-based Slees Home Hardware, both passed away recently. Mr Blanchard had been the chairman of Home Hardware for 25 years, and Peter was a former vice chairman of the group.

Members of both families were presented with an engraved decanter to commemorate their loved ones' achievements. Chris and Sue Blanchard accepted on behalf of Blanchards Home Hardware. Representing Slees Home Hardware were Alison and Gary Serret.

When the company originated in 1961 there were 10 founding members, all based in North Devon.

Chairman David Adams said: "If the founder members were alive today they would be very proud of their foresight and how the company has developed."

Over the past 50 years Home Hardware has grown into a nationwide business, supplying more than 400 stores throughout England and Wales.
