Dulux announces select decorator winner
The competition judges the best painters and decorators in the UK, with only members of the elite Dulux Select Decorators scheme able to apply by submitting a portfolio of their work, which was then judged by a panel of painting and decorating experts.

Simon Medlin, from Buckinghamshire, has been crowned overall grand winner and winner of the internal project over £3,000 category. Simon has been a Dulux Trade Select Decorator for nine years and impressed the judges with his craftsmanship renovating a living room in a Grade I listed building, which included the installation of bespoke wallpaper. The surfaces were prepared using Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell with one coat of primer and Simon hand painted everything including to the stippled paint effect on the outer ceiling panels. He took home vouchers worth £1,500 with his two trophies and certificates for his win.

AkzoNobel Dulux academy manager Vickie Mather said: "The competition for the top slot at this year's award was very tough, but we agreed that Simon deserved to win. He showed a high level of craftsmanship and expertise with his project covering all aspects of our trade. These were executed to the highest standard - exactly what we would expect from a Dulux Select Decorator."

The three other categories including internal project under £1,499, for internal project £1,500 to £2,999 and external project category were won by Martyn Loyley, Adrian Croker and Andrew Sheasby respectively.
