The winners of this year’s DIY Week Awards were announced at a glittering live presentation event held at the prestigious Tower Hotel in London on 20 May. After the challenges caused by the Covid pandemic over the last two years, it was great to be back socialising in person again with leading figures from the DIY, home improvement and garden industry.
Hosted by comedian Hal Cruttenden and ‘Voice of the Balls’ Alan Dedicoat, the event was a great success, as all those present enjoyed a sumptuous three course lunch, fine wine and Champagne while celebrating the achievements of the winners.
DIY Week’s Editorial Director, Neil Mead welcomed guests by saying: “Even during these unprecedented times, the unrivalled resilience and innovation shown by everyone in this room proves beyond doubt that the future of the DIY sector is in safe hands and very bright.
“During the course of the 2022 scheme, I’ve been amazed once again by the outstanding products you’ve continued to develop, the creativity of the retailers operating within the sector and the passion that you all hold for all things DIY. And I’m proud to have had the opportunity to play a role in recognising and rewarding all of your hard work.”
Neil went on to thank the Award’s judges: Paul Andrews; Paul Bagnall, Ricky Johal, Andrew Marley, Kate Murphy, Mike Smith, and Paul Warren and the event sponsors: Benchmark Retail Services, BIRA, BHETA, DK Tools, Home Hardware Southwest and Parcel Pending by Quadient for their generous support.
The event enjoyed a party atmosphere, as guests made the most of being back together and able to socialise and network in person again, and the celebrations continued well into the evening.
Event Manager, Sallie Payne said: “It was great to welcome everyone back to a live event once again and to reconnect with friends and colleagues. The team and I were really pleased with the positive response from the industry for the awards this year and impressed with the quantity and high standard of entries received. Thank you to all those who were involved in making this year’s DIY Week Awards such a success and everyone that attended the event.”
