Call for green, lightweight and quiet mowers

Published: 6 August 2007
Wolf-Garten's investment in lawn care market research has lead it to develop a lawnmower range – Hybrid Power – that, the business says, builds on consumers' desire to have green, lightweight and quiet mowers.
"People should enjoy their garden, not get frustrated when they are unable to complete the job, Karina Wysom marketing executive at the company told diyweek.net.

According to Wolf-Garten's research, participants recorded that the most off-putting thing about mowing the lawn was:

  • The cable doesn't always allow their mowers to reach to the end of the lawn, especially when there is a limited or inconveniently placed power source.
  • Petrol mowers are noisy and not environmentally friendly.
  • Petrol mowers are heavy and difficult to manoeuvre.

Although the range is suitable for every type of gardener and every type of garden, Wolf-Garten anticipates that garden enthusiasts/ professional gardeners are the primary target market.

A European launch is scheduled for January 2008 although visitors to Glee will get a sneak preview.

According to http://www.lawnmowersworld.com the US has released a new policy to lower the emissions of small engines which includes lawn mowers that are mjor pollutants. I think the UK should follow suit
