Company md to climb three highest mountains in Great Britain in under 24 hours.
Jeremy Bird, managing director of the diy chain will attempt the Three Peaks Challenge on Friday, June 13 in a bid to raise an amazing £50,000 for the company's national charity partner, Leukaemia Research.
Jeremy explains: "I will be attempting to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, the mountains in question being Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. This act of madness is known as the Three Peaks Challenge and should only be undertaken for a really worthwhile cause."
Wickes divisional director Ian Kennedy will be climbing with Jeremy on the frantic 24-hour mission, while retail development director Tim Matthews will be providing what his md describes as "logistics, driving and moral support".
The trip will involve 500 miles of driving and over 3,400 metres of climbing, and of course descending, in the allotted time.
"I'm not as fit as I should be and it's going to hurt," said Mr Bird. "I should point out at this time that even if Ian has to carry me up and down the last mountain, which is not impossible, I will still be claiming my sponsorship!"
Wickes has supported Leukaemia Research since 2006, raising over £400,000 to date.
