Uniting the interior design community globally: Decorex Virtual returns with engaging talks, new product launches and 3D walk-through

Published: 13 November 2021 - Neil Mead

Following a triumphant return to Olympia London in October, Europe’s leading event for interior design professionals, Decorex, turns virtual again this November for a three-day digital experience which will once again bring the global interiors industry together to discover the latest trends, source new products, meet new suppliers, network and gain knowledge through inspiring talks.

From 16-18 November, Decorex Virtual is an unmissable opportunity to meet brands through face-to-face video  and live chat facilities with top exhibitors including Cameron Design House, Haberdashery, Liberty Fabrics and the V&A – plus many more - providing a premier platform for key designers and suppliers to connect with new and familiar faces whilst discovering and nurturing new talent and future trends. Decorex Virtual offers an immersive digital experience with the chance to connect with exhibitors with virtual 1-2-1 meetings, enjoy the Talks Programme, peruse a vast product catalogue and - for those who couldn’t make it to Olympia this year -  experience the show floor virtually with a 3D walkthrough.

The event will highlight a carefully curated pool of high-end luxury brands who showcased collection launches and exceptional craftsmanship across a mix of products and designers, most of which also exhibited at Olympia in October meaning Decorex Virtual is the perfect opportunity to connect with brands and the industry at large for visitors unable to attend the physical show. Virtual attendees will be able to discover the key interior trends that were showcased at Olympia; from abundant patterns and colour to oversized furniture with exaggerated proportions and curved silhouettes, there was an optimistic and convivial feel throughout the show. Sustainable choices and natural materials were a key focus, with nature-inspired design evident across everything from wallpapers to rug designs. Sculptural and innovative lighting illuminated the show, with notable collaborations launched from leading brands and industry names.

Be inspired and invigorated by the Talks Programme which is packed with thought-provoking debates on design-led topics from a lineup of over 70 speakers. Recorded live at the show, speakers will be sharing their expertise on everything from sustainable interior design, the evolution of craftsmanship, designing for the 0.1%, how to balance pattern and colour and wellbeing in hospitality design, as well as discussing how the pandemic has changed how we live and in many cases where we live. With talks from leading industry figures set to inform, instruct and impart invaluable insight, the programme will offer a chance to upskill and understand key issues facing the industry today. With new talks released each day, each session will feature thought-leading programming and conversations from renowned designers, influential industry leaders and trailblazers across the interior design sector including British designers Lee Broom and Richard Brendon, The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades and interior designers Kelly Hoppen, Sophie Ashby, Jo Littlefair and Shalini Misra, plus many more.

Decorex Virtual will feature the opportunity to request Video Meetings with suppliers alongside a Supplier Directory with an unrivalled selection of suppliers across design and interiors,  their latest products and established collections. All Decorex Virtual attendees will be provided access to Decorex’s members-only platform, The Edit. The Edit feature offers year-round inspiration, upskilling, networking and sourcing opportunities with a library of 150+ speakers and over 75+ hours of engaging and informative content.

In a first for Decorex, drone footage captured the physical show allowing the Decorex community to explore the show first-hand with a virtual tour. A 3D walkthrough created by the UK's leading creator of 360 Virtual Tours, Venue View, offers the opportunity to digitally visit Olympia and explore show features such as the digital light installation designed by Future Heritage designer and engineer Moritz Waldemeyer. Moritz created a dreamlike scene of multi-sized luminous, floating butterflies nestled amongst vibrant greenery by one of the most celebrated British florists Nikki Tibbles and Wild at Heart. The centerpiece of the show was interior designer Sara Cosgrove Studio’s circus themed bar, The Circus, a whimsical and fun space that was a talking and meeting point for guests to enjoy. Under a 1.5 metre glittering mirror ball, Sara and her team chose opulent drapes and hand-painted motifs for the bar. Not to be missed is the Liberty. Café, a collaboration between Decorex and exhibitor Liberty Fabrics. The Liberty. Café showcased Liberty Fabric’s exquisite wallpaper designs that were carefully curated by their team to fill the space with a warm and vibrant energy. Designs featured in the layout included Liberty Fabric’s PalamporeTrail, Deco Scallop, Hera Plume and Regency Tulip.

Visitors to Decorex Virtual will discover new makers at Decorex favourite, Future Heritage. The ‘show within a show’, revealed unique pieces created by designers who have pushed their creativity to the limits to produce new and unexpected work, often combining traditional materials with innovative new processes. Highlights include Frances Pinnock’s larger-than-life leather sculptures and Adam Nathanial Furman’s collaboration with Esther Patterson, designer and founder of Curiousa & Curiousa, ‘Glowbules’, an enchanting set of glass sculptural light pieces.
