Test-Rite UK md sells business

Test-Rite UK md Dermot Mullins, who helped set up B&Q stores in Taiwan with Taiwanese parent company Test-Rite, has sold his entire share interest in the UK business back to his Taiwanese partners.
He continues to operate from his own business Finishing Touches International Limited, which imports products such as indoor furniture and pasting tables, and also has distribution rights for Stanley-branded garden tools in the UK and Ireland.
Mr Mullins, who established Test-Rite in the UK in 1990, currently operates from a 15,000sq ft warehousing space in Winchester, and is "looking to expand as quickly as possible".
Speaking to
DIY Week, he added: "We're looking all the time to establish other lines. The retailers are too strong - they now establish their own offices and relationships in the Far East. The key used to be that we developed products, turning them into commercial products for this market. The retailers are now doing this themselves. The way forward is to develop brands further to offer something different. We can offer something different by taking on brands ourselves."
