The Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) has appointed David Lonsdale as its new director, replacing Fiona Moriarty, who is leaving after 10 years in the role.
Mr Lonsdale's brief is to build on the strong position the SRC holds in Scotland and to lead the implementation of British Retail Consortium (BRC) strategy across all the devolved nations.

He has been assistant director at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in Scotland for eight years and he will take up his new role at the SRC in January. Mr Lonsdale brings a wealth of public policy, political lobbying and media experience to the role and his ability to lead political and business advocacy across a range of policy areas. He will be central to the development of key policy positions impacting on Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Director general of the BRC Helen Dickinson, said: "Fiona has worked tirelessly for the SRC and our members in Scotland and we are grateful for her enormous contribution and commitment to our success in Scotland. We wish Fiona all the best as she embarks on her new endeavours and at the same time we very much look forward to David picking up the baton and joining the retail sector."
