Quartermaine Distribution acquires household product supplier

Published: 25 June 2020 - Alex Fordham

Cheshire based company Quartermaine Distribution has completed the acquisition of Scott Brothers Ltd, saving six jobs.

Scott Brothers recently entered into administration due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, but the procurement by Quartermaine Distribution has saved the longstanding operation from closing permanently.

With household brand names such as Packmate, Honeywell, Russell and more in its portfolio, the Quartermaine Distribution is able to continue providing storage and air cooling solutions to UK retailers.

Duncan Pratt-Thompson, Managing Director of Quartermaine Distribution said: “The impact that the Coronavirus had on the company was unexpected and sudden, so we’re thrilled that we were able to find a solution that would not only save the business model so we can continue supplying trusted and leading brands to the UK market but also save six jobs.

“Scott Brothers is also a respected and well established name in retail, and the acquisition by Quartermaine Distribution means that relationships and the heritage which has already been built can continue.”

Brabners, led by Rupert Gill, were instructed to advise Quartermaine Distribution on the acquisition, providing corporate, IP and associated advice. Gill commented: “With the positive approach taken by all parties, including the administrator, Patrick Lannagan of Mazars and his legal team at PDT, the transaction was concluded swiftly and efficiently thereby helping to save an historic business that distributes products we all use and saving a number of jobs in the process”.

Pratt-Thompson was supported throughout the process by Principal of the FD Centre Andrew Clarkson who has worked alongside him for four years.

Clarkson commented: “Scott Brothers was a great business but these have been difficult times and so hard decisions had to be made. I supported Duncan through the acquisition process, providing  support and advice on the financial aspects of the buyout. It has all gone well and I’m sure Quartermaine will be an even better and more successful business. “
