Ironmongers C C Clements & Son has been in business since 1875, and owner Mr George Squires says there’s no beating an old-fashioned, traditional approach to retailing.
Service is what counts he tells DIY Week.net, and it is this more than anything else, which has helped the Norfolk shop based in the town of Wymondham, trade for more than 130 years.

"We've built on the store's strengths, and we won't diversify," he said simply when asked about C C Clements' continuing success.

"We won't sell cat food and things like that, but we will concentrate on the areas we're strong in: ironmongery, tools and decorating."

Locals, fondly known as Wymondhamers, he added, regularly visit Norwich city centre, which is 10 minutes drive away, however C C Clements doesn't loose out.

"Our prices are good, and we believe customers who come here get good value in their baskets.

"We go out of our way to help customers and are now offering a full locksmith service."

C C Clements is a family-run shop started by the Clements family in 1875 and remains on the same site from which it opened.

Mr Squires has two sons, Kevin and David, involved in the business.
