Mount Kilimanjaro challenge

Former Burcot garden centre employee to tackle Africa's highest mountain in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Mount Kilimanjaro challenge
Sandy Edwards, who's mum still works at Burcot Garden Centre near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next February to raise £4,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The 24-year old will take the longest and most gruelling Lemosho route up the mountain, battling altitude sickness, fatigue and temperatures as low as 22 degrees below zero C to reach the summit that lies 5.895m above sea level.

Ms Edwards commented: "I will be participating in one of the hardest challenges of my life, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. I am doing this challenge to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

"After losing a friend to this awful disease back in 2005, it brought home to me how important it was to have a specialised team around you and also to have an environment in the hospitals that still let kids be kids and young adults blossom."
