Mr Steenberg's most recent achievement is in leading Masons to acquire PEFC accreditation.

He joined the company in 1972 and worked his way up from the shop floor, guiding Masons' purchasing department though one of its major periods of expansion.

As head of operations, Mr Steenberg has travelled extensively, sourcing a wide range of timbers for the firm, which manufactures timber home improvement products for supply within the DIY retail, merchant and manufacturing sectors.

Mr Steenberg said: "My four decades of experience with Masons has been both professionally challenging and rewarding. The timber trade has offered me a great career, which I am most appreciative of and I've made some lifelong friends in the process."
