Marathon challenge

Published: 12 April 2011
Wickes' director of retail development and customer services Tim Matthews is running the London Marathon on April 17 to raise money for blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Marathon challenge
Wickes partnered the charity in October 2006 and has raised £1.6m for the organisation since then. As part of the chain's commitment to fundraising, Mr Matthews has climbed mountains, helped organise charity dinners and even driven to Africa and back.

He said: "I'm aiming to run the 26 miles in five hours and it's going to be hard work - I'll need plenty of stamina. Knowing I'll be raising money for the vital work of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and helping to beat blood cancers will be crucial to keeping me going through the pain barriers!"
