It’s going to be Gr-eight! Protrade gets set to hold popular annual tool show event… online

Protrade, the East Midlands supplier of trade tools, will be holding its annual super-savings event between Friday 11 September and Monday 14 September.
This year, however, the popular demonstration show, which usually attracts more than 1,500 tradesmen, plumbers, electricians, and construction workers from across the Midlands, will be held online, due to the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dubbed the ‘Great 8’, Protrade will be hosting eight premium brands - Milwaukee, Festool, Lamello, Wera, Mafell, Armorgard, Metabo and its fastest-growing accessories and consumable brand, Maxitek - for a four-day weekend of big savings and in-depth demonstrations on the latest power tools and equipment.
It would not be a tools show without new product launches, with Milwaukee launching the MX FUEL cordless range, while Wera is also revealing their festive and most popular Advent Calendar for 2020.
And Protrade will be making up for the fact that there will no face-to-face demos by hosting them exclusively on its Facebook and Instagram pages and installing a chatbox function, allowing trade professionals to get their burning questions answered.
Speaking ahead of the event, Maria Potter, marketing executive at Protrade, said: “Every September, we would host our tool show and there would be a BBQ, giveaways, and demonstrations, but with everything happening right now, it’s difficult to host something like that.
“Because of Covid-19, several trade shows and tool fairs have been cancelled, but we would still like to offer trades professionals something exciting to look forward to.
“Rather than a Super 6, this year we have got the ‘Great 8’. Naturally, we’re disappointed we won’t be able to host our usual event, but rather than do nothing, we are going to move it online instead. We will be running a number of offers, giveaways, and we will be hosting demonstrations on our social media platforms.
“Doing nothing wasn’t an option for us. This is a big event for our local community and while it won’t be as big as normal, we’re still excited about this annual event and we’re working closely with our suppliers and brands on the launch of some new products that will be made available over this weekend.”
Anyone that pre-registers for the ‘Great 8’ online event on the Protrade website will also be instantly submitted into a big prize draw.
