ICI deal 'on track' for Akzo takeover

Chief financial officer expresses confidence ahead of next week's Akzo Nobel egm.
Alan Brown, chief financial officer for ICI has told reporters he is confident that Akzo Nobel's takeover will proceed.

Mr Brown said the takeover has won strong support from institutional investors.

"We don't expect any change in that position in the next couple of months," he said.

He added that he is confident regulatory clearance will be granted.

Earlier this week, ICI posted third quarter results showing a profits climb of 18% to £177m.

Sales also rose from £1.24bn to £1.26bn.

Results for the fourth quarter are expected to ahead of forecasts.
