HTA director general retires

Published: 28 November 2011
The director general of the Horticultural Trades Association, David Gwyther, has retired.
After 16 years in the role, Mr Gwyther will now take on some advisory and non-executive roles, while enjoying spending more time at home and in France.

HTA president Carol Paris said: "David has made a huge contribution to the horticultural industry in the 16 years that he has been at the helm of the association and it has flourished under his leadership. David's guidance has seen the HTA develop a wide range of services and benefits for the members, including increasing gift voucher sales, improving training for retailers and growers, effective government lobbying and building excellent relationships with members and partners."

She added: "David has built up a strong management team and will be leaving the association in capable hands whilst a successor is sought. The team at Theale will be fully supported by the board of the HTA."
