A team from the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is celebrating after raising more than £5,500 for charity after walking more than 62 miles from London to Brighton.

The HTA's training and catering manager Penny Evans joined marketing manager Tony Stacy, commercial manager Tim Bell, business development manager Donna Hanlon, events organiser Carole Loftus and events assistant Lauren Swanborough to complete the challenge in 30 hours.

The walk, which included 1,400m of ascent, started in Old Deer Park in Richmond, headed through the suburbs of London, Surrey and Sussex and over the South Downs to finish at Brighton Racecourse.

Penny Evans was the team leader, and said: "All credit to the team's mental strength and team spirit, as this was much tougher than could be imagined. Great laughs were shared with pain and tears, but the HTA team supported each other all the way. With the five months training and the challenge itself, we all know each other a little better now! The question is what's next? The immediate answer is... absolutely nothing!"
