Full of the joys of spring – that's Robert Dyas’s Visual Merchandising Manager, Janine Tanner. A decorating expert with decades of experience, she knows exactly how to make Easter a visual celebration.
With tips for the home and the garden, she can sprinkle spring magic both inside and out. Check out her tips below for the perfect Easter home.
Feast your eyes
“Create a ‘springtime statement’ tablescape using pastel colours, flowers and lights. Lay down this pink dinnerware set (£28.99) and add some spring flowers to the table. To save money on real flowers, which can be expensive, faux flowers like these Mica Fuchsia Poppies (£2.99, live soon) and Mica Salmon Dahlias (£3.99, live soon) can keep costs down and be brought out year after year.
“For a stunning centerpiece, place garden twigs in a vase decorated with battery-powered lights (£14.99) – either warm white or vibrant and multi-coloured (from £9.99) – and use twine (£3.99) to hang small painted eggs on the twigs, which kids will love to help with.”
Glow big & glow home
“Use your garden as an extra room for decorating; the results can be stunning! No colours are more apt for Easter more than pastels, so make sure you add in plenty of these lovely spring shades. Place these Sanctuary Hanging Baskets (£7.99, available in blue, green and grey) and 40cm Plant Pots (£15.99, available in blue, green and grey) around your garden, add colourful solar stake lights (£3.99) down your garden path, hang solar lanterns (£6.99) prettily on tree branches, and pop a cordless solar lamp (£5.99) on your outdoor table to add a warm evening glow.
“Place colourful features on patios like this Flamboya Lemon Table (£29.99) and create quirky displays to give a sense of individuality. Why not use a small decorative watering can as a planter? This leaf-patterned Smart Garden Plantercan (£9.99) would be perfect for the job.
“With string lights – such as these two-tone Eureka rechargeable string lights (£9.99) – winding around a tree trunk or two, your garden will be transformed into an Easter sanctuary you'll never want to leave.
“Don't forget a blanket, such as this pastel green Furn. Harrow Fleece Throw (£16.99), and a patio heater in case there's a chill in the spring air; like this Shadow Diffusion Tabletop Patio Heater (£90.99, was £101.99). These will keep you nice and toasty on days or evenings in the garden.”
Spring on your doorstep
“When it comes to adding Easter kerb appeal, a spring wreath (£46.99) on your front door will add instant charm. Even with only a balcony or a doorstep, you can bring Easter outside with pastel solar lanterns (£6.99 each) andstring lights in sealed jars. I love these rechargeable multi-coloured string lights (£14.99) to add pops of spring colour to a doorstep.”
Cotton-tail chic for kids’ rooms
“The decor in kids’ rooms can often clash with a curated home aesthetic, so opt for wicker baskets to store their eggs and Easter goodies in, such as this JVL Seagrass Storage Basket (£14.99). Pop a soft Easter-themed toy on a low shelf for them to play with; these Cuddle Crew 50cm Bunnies (£12.99 each) are perfect as their neutral colours will look lovely in any room, and they make a cute Easter gift too.”
