David Stone of Kings Garden Centre in Exmouth completed his 13th London Marathon but, this time, broke the World record, running the race in the fastest time dressed as a superhero.
Mr Stone, who has been running competitively for 14 years now decided to do something different this year and managed to break the record for the fastest superhero running a marathon.
Dressed as Superman, Mr Stone beat the time held by the previous record holder in New Zealand and completed the London Marathon in two hours, 42 minutes and 46 seconds. He even managed to secure 214th place in the famous race, despite feeling quite toasty in the costume.
"It was a brilliant experience," said Mr Stone. "Very hot on the day - made worse by the superman costume...All the kids in the crowd were putting their arms up as I went past and I was doing the same back, so my shoulders were aching by the end of the race!"
He added: "22 miles in I was struggling but the guy from the Guinness World Records was there cheering me on, which really gave me a boost. As soon as I crossed the line they came straight up with a mock-up of the certificate and said I'd broken the record. I've been on a bit of a high since then."
Mr Stone ran on behalf of Millwater School in Honeton and, in keeping with his choice of costume, is already lined up to take part in a 32.5mile Ultra Marathon across Dartmoor later this year. " I did it last year and won so I've got to go back to defend my title," he laughed.

While on the site, DIY Week also spotted the record for the
largest paint swatch, broken by PPG Pittsburgh Paints, at 17ft by 4ft, totalling 68sq ft.
