Former Gardman md goes to Homebase
Mr Stainton joined Gardman in August 2009 as commercial director, having previously worked for B&Q amongst others. The role of UK managing director to which he was promoted in April 2011 was a new one for the company.

He quit Gardman in March after chief executive Mark Pearson left.

At Gardman he was responsible for significant product and category innovation covering wild bird care, garden decoration and home style, water features and candles.

At Homebase Mr Stainton will report to trading director for garden and core DIY Matthew Compton.
