Forest Garden expands production team

Published: 24 February 2014
Forest Garden has taken on 100 new employees to help it meet production demand following the damage done by the recent storms.
A sudden demand for replacing fencing and sheds damaged by the strong winds and gales at the beginning of the year has encouraged the timber garden products supplier to take on extra staff.

The Worcestershire-based firm has seen production levels reach in excess of four times the norm due to the recent storms.

To continue rapid delivery of its products to garden centres and retailers the new workers have predominantly joined the in-house production and manufacturing teams.

Speaking of the expansion, Guy Grainger Group chief executive, said: "We're extremely pleased to be able to report the significant expansion of our team here at Forest. The beginning of 2014 brought with it some incredibly challenging weather, and as a result we have had to ramp up our production levels to meet demand across the board.

"The introduction of 100 new workers will allow us to continue to meet this demand, whilst also demonstrating our commitment to our business and employment in the local area."

This boost in recruitment comes shortly after Forest Garden announced the acquisition of fellow timber goods company M&M Timber in late 2013.
