Goods in supervisor, Tony Day, who is the longest-serving member of the team at Carr Gate Garden Centre, acknowledged for his dedication over the past four decades.
Mr Day was recognised for his commitment to the company at a special presentation ceremony on Monday, August 16.

Garden centre manager Anthony Molloy said: "We are extremely grateful for the dedication shown during the past 40 years by Tony.

"I would like to thank him for the years of service he has given Carr Gate Garden Centre and we look forward to many more years ahead. He is an integral part of our team."

A member of the Garden Centre Group, Carr Gate Garden Centre is located on Old Bradford Road, Carr Gate, Wakefield.

Mr Molloy, Carr Gate Garden Centre regional manager Chris Brannigan, and the previous owner of the garden centre, Jean Wilkinson, presented Mr Day with a prestigious long service medal from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and a framed certificate signed by the RHS President, Giles Coode-Adams.

He also received a 40-year commemorative badge, an engraved glass tankard and £100 of high street vouchers from The Garden Centre Group.

Nicholas Marshall, Chief Executive of The Garden Centre Group, added: "I am extremely grateful to Tony for the dedication he has shown to our business. I believe firmly in the old fashioned virtues of continuity, consistency, loyalty and service."

Tony, who lives in East Ardsley, Wakefield, started working at the garden centre when he was aged 15 in 1970.
The father-of-two said: "I cannot believe I have been at Carr Gate Garden Centre for 40 years it has flown by. I'm delighted with my awards and vouchers.

"I enjoy working at the garden centre because of the great team spirit and the long-term relationships I have built up with my colleagues."
