Steve Akers has joined the BHF-BSSA Group as buyer for the Direct Company.
Mr Akers brings with him considerable experience in the industry, having previously held a purchasing and category management role with Mica for the past four and a half years.

Prior to moving into the DIY sector, he spent 14 years in music retail with HMV, later holding two buying and stock management roles in two separate music and entertainment distribution companies.

Mr Akers said: "I am delighted to be joining the Direct Company at this time of growth and opportunity and look forward to working with Paul Woolley and the team, both to help enhance the organisation's place in the industry and our members to develop their business through the group."
