Published: 11 June 2009
Wholesalers and suppliers within the DIY industry dig deep at Annual Karting Challenge last month.
The charity event, sponsored by Stax Trade Centres was held at the Warrintgton Speedkarting Track on May 17.

It was the 16th annual event of its kind and raised almost £2,500 fo rthe Raindy Day Trust, which helps individuals who, having worked I the DIY and hardware sector, are now retired and find themselves in need of some financial assistance.

Organiser and Stax joint managing director David Hibbert said: "As usual it was abgreat day and everyone involved had some fun. The standard of racing this year was probably the most competitive and exciting we've seen."

Inc Design's Bev Barton walked away with the trophy for fastest lady on the day, while Stax's Becky Draper took the highly coveted bent axle award and Workhouse Marketing's Jamie Brown clocked the fastest lap for the second year running.

The Workhouse team also lifted the team trophy, jus ahead of PPG Architectural Coatings, followed by Stax in third place.

The final was turned on its head when the ten finalists took to the grid in reverse order. Andrew Wooodhouse from Workhouse Marketing finished first, Rodo's David Faragher second and Decco's Steve Bray third.

Mr Hibbert added: "I would like to thank every company that entered a team in this year's event to help us raise money for our charity. It's tough for everyone at the moment so their continued support was appreciated more than ever."
