Brand New Machinery Arrives at What More UK

Published: 12 July 2021 - James Mead

Leading housewares brand and manufacturer What More UK has taken delivery of their latest consignment of machinery.

What More UK is the UK's largest manufacturer and brand leader in the housewares market. It is a multi-award winning employer in the region and a Lancashire success story. Earlier this year the firm announced it will be investing £20 million in its Altham manufacturing site and this equipment represents a sizable part of that investment.

The machines have now arrived and been installed in the company's state of the art production facility in Accrington.

Company Director Tony Grimshaw said:

"This is a good day for What More and for the wider manufacturing sector. With the arrival of these machines we're securing our future and declaring confidence in British manufacturing."

"It's also a great opportunity for our engineering apprentices to gain experience working with and helping maintain the latest machinery under the supervision of our more experienced staff."

These machines are part of the company's strategy of continual investment in people, plant, and estate. It's a strategy that will see the firm grow its factory space by 200,000 square feet which will help satisfy the strong demand for their products.

What More UK has become a rock in these challenging times and proves that British manufacturing is as strong and resilient as ever. The firm, which already employs 350 people, plans to take on more in staff in the coming months to help keep up with demand.

What More UK is the owner of the very popular housewares brand, Wham. The company produces housewares of all kinds, including around the sink items, home laundry and outdoor gardenware like planters and window boxes. During lockdown What More's bakeware range has proved extremely popular.

What More's products are available in all major supermarkets in Britain, 1600 independent retailers around the UK, DIY chains and wholesalers. What More also exports to a further 75 countries around the world, making them a truly global brand proudly based in Lancashire.
