Biophilic Beauties from Woodpecker Flooring

Published: 4 May 2022 - James Mead

Biophilic design might have first emerged on the interior stage in the 1980s but with sustainability now at the fore of homeowners’ decorating decisions the connection between nature and the home continues to flourish.

Biophilia is the belief that as humans we feel linked to the natural world. In terms of interiors, this means embracing natural materials even in the most urban of environments.

Independent wood floor experts Woodpecker Flooring have long been part of the biophilic movement, making their boards from responsibly managed, sustainable forests.

However, they are making it even easier for homeowners to bring the outside in with a stunning range of floors and décor inspiration which place natural textures and fresh colours centre stage.

Darwyn Ker, Managing Director of Woodpecker Flooring, said: “From the manufacturing process to the finish of each plank, we are all about celebrating the natural beauty of our floors.

“They are richly textured, allowing the natural imperfections of the timber to give an authentic, biophilic feel. And we work tirelessly to perfect our imagery to really showcase this. We’re truly passionate about our floors and we feel our range offers a floor to complement an array of interior themes.”

Woodpecker’s connection with nature goes beyond choosing the best wood for its boards.

Woodpecker Flooring has also committed to becoming the first carbon negative flooring company and last year launched the Woodpecker Forest of Tomorrow – a 200 acre forest in the beautiful countryside around Woodpecker’s base in South Wales and home to 50,000 oak saplings.
