DIY giant highlights "potential electrical safety issue" with indoor Marble lights and urges customers who have purchased the sets to return them.
B&Q has recalled hundreds of sets of its indoor 50 Marble Christmas lights after stating that they are "unsafe to use".
Nearly 250 sets of the lights, which are available in clear, red and green, have been purchased since they went on sale on October 5 this year.
A statement from B&Q said: "B&Q has identified a potential electrical safety safety issue with its Indoor 50 Marble lights... Despite rigorous quality control procedures, it has been brought to our attention that an inconsistent manufacturing defect makes the [lights] unsafe for use.
"Customer safety is of paramount importance to B&Q and therefore anyone who owns a set of B&Q Mains Indoor 50 Marble lights, in any colour, should immediately stop using them and return them to their nearest B&Q for a full refund on the purchase price.
"No other Christmas lights in the B&Q range are affected by this announcement."
The DIY chain apologised for the inconvenience caused and explained that customers who wish to confirm they have purchased this particular set of lights can visit www.diy.com or call 0800 389 0419 (UK) or 1800 946 327 (Ireland).
