Akzo's award-winning Let's Colour commercial

Added: 1 July 2011

Akzo Nobel's Let's Colour Project film takes the viewer on a journey across the world, from Rio to London, as people gather together to transform grey spaces with colourful paint.

Launched in 2010, the global Let's Colour campaign was created to add colour to people's lives and inspire them to revitalise their surroundings. AkzoNobel worked with local communities across the globe, to paint streets, houses, schools and squares.

The events featured in the winning advert were staged over a four-month period in Brazil, India, France and the UK. Local communities were invited to transform colourless areas using the company's paint brands, which include Dulux, Glidden, Hammerite, Sadolin and Coral, with each event being filmed to provide footage for the ad.

Since the video was made, additional projects have also taken place in the Netherlands, South Africa and Turkey, with many others scheduled to take place during the year. A "making of" the award-winning movie is available on www.letscolourproject.com/blog.

AkzoNobel's global head of marketing Sucheta Govil said: "Colour has the power to inspire all of us and I'm delighted that the positive impact we are having on communities around the world has been so strongly communicated through this film.

"The Let's Colour campaign not only reinforces our role as the global colour authority, but also encourages consumers to use our brands and make their world brighter and better. It's about engaging consumers in new and compelling ways and building awareness among professionals of the effects and benefits of using colour."
