Wyevale Staff raise £1,500 for charity

Published: 24 July 2018 - Kiran Grewal

22 members of staff from Wyevale Nurseries in Hereford challenged themselves physically last Saturday (July 21, 2018) and have so far raised £1,500 in aid of a children’s charity.

The team members either hiked 21-miles from Brecon to Crickhowell, took part in a 10-mile walk or a 34-mile bike ride all in aid of Greenfingers.

Sales and marketing director at Wyevale Nurseries,Adam Dunnett explained: “Well done to everyone who took part. We had a great time even if it was a little too warm!

“Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far. We are over the moon to have raised £1,500 for Greenfingers. It is such a brilliant charity, dedicated to creating magical gardens at children’s hospices across the UK.

“Eleven members of our staff hiked 21-miles, although when we measured it on the day it came out at just under 25 miles, ten people opted for the 10-mile walk and Adrian Hoare, our Garden Design and Domestic Landscape sales manager, was the only person to complete the 34-mile cycle.”

To date Greenfingers have so far created 55 inspirational gardens. The charity is currently working on creating gardens at Claire House Children’s Hospice in Wirral, Little Harbour Children’s Hospice in St Austell, Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough and Richard House Hospice in Beckton, London.

Director of fundraising and communications at Greenfingers, Linda Petrons said: “We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Wyevale Nurseries for supporting our charity in such a great way. I am sure it was a challenge for everyone who took part especially in this hot summer weather. The money raised will go a long way to help us ensure the gardens can now become a reality.”

There is still time to sponsor the Wyevale Nurseries team, please visit its JustGiving page –  www.justgiving.com/fundraising/adam-dunnett1.

The product selection available from Wyevale Nurseries is envied across the industry and the talented team regularly introduces new, award-winning plant varieties.

Its main business is to supply garden centres, landscape contractors, local authorities, foresters and landowners with a comprehensive array of trees, shrubs, hedging, herbaceous and specimen plants.
