11-times medal winner, Medwyn Williams will make a return to Chelsea in May year after a nine-year absence.

Mr will, once again, set up in the Grand Pavilion to exhibit his award-winning vegetable display, with the support of sponsors, CANNA. Mr Williams’ accomplishment of 11 consecutive golds is one that has never before been achieved with vegetables, and he hopes that he can continue his winning streak upon his return.

For the past eight months Mr Williams has been working with CANNA, producer of nutrients and growing mediums for the cultivation of plants, in order to develop the biggest and best vegetables possible.

The display will use the traditional 1920s style of showcasing, which was first made popular by Edwin Beckett, and both contrasts and compliments Mr Williams’ modern growing techniques. Over the next few years, in fact, he is embarking upon a process to negate the need of any soil at all.

He shares CANNA’s passion for protecting the environment, and is keen to demonstrate the fact that healthy, delicious food can be grown anywhere. Mr Medwyn’s return to the show has been prompted by the desire to promote this message as well as the fact that he will be joined by his son, Alwyn and grandson Owain on the stand.

Mr Medwyn said: “I am thrilled to have three generations of Williams’ on the stand this year and am looking forward to my return to Chelsea with my new sponsors CANNA on board. I hope to stage a few brand new varieties, particularly on the tomato side, so watch this space for more information on that!”

Ellie Blackburn, from CANNA, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring such an icon of the horticultural world. His use of our products to prepare for RHS Chelsea 2019 is a real seal of approval for us.”
