UPDATE: Fire at Tafs caused by electrical fault

Published: 5 February 2016
Investigators at Shropshire Fire & Rescue rule an overnight blaze at timber and fencing firm Tafs Garden Co was sparked by "abnormal electrical activity"
In a statement issued today, Shropshire Fire & Rescue who attended the scene, said: "Following an investigation, the most likely cause of Tuesday's fire at TAFS, St Georges Telford is abnormal electrical activity". This could be attributable to a number of things, including a short circuit, overheating connections or circuit overload.

More than 40 firefighters attended the scene on Feb 2, after numerous 999 calls were made reporting the blaze at the site on Gower Street in the St George's area of the town. At its height, the fire required eight main jets and six pumps to bring it under control.

Tafs Garden Co manufactures fencing, but over the years has expanded into other areas including concrete products, paving, aggregates and sheds.
