Organisers of Totally DIY & Totally Tools have revealed that the shows will take place on a Tuesday and Wednesday next year, in a bid to create a more focused event.
The decision to scrap the Sunday opening and move to a two-day format was taken following consultation with a number of people within the industry, including retail-driven organisations and wholesalers, said show organiser Brintex.

It added that, for a show of its type and size of audience, Totally will now be "in step with other shows that touch on the sector". The announcement follows news that the International Hardware Fair in Cologne will be also be reducing the number of days it is open, from four to three.

Exhibition director Paul Grinsell explained: "The changes for the 2016 show are the result of numerous discussions with suppliers, together with the advice of our independent-friendly partners on the show. The advice we received points towards full-time buyers preferring to be at their desks at the beginning and end of every week, and store owners finding its easier to get cover mid-week - hence our choice to of a Tuesday/Wednesday show. "

He added: "Brintex is committed to delivering a quality and respected show for the UK market and this realignment and recognition of the current needs is completely in step with other shows serving the sector."

The Totally shows will continue to be held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry and the dates for the 2016 show will now be Tuesday, February 16 and Wednesday, February 17. While a cap on exhibitor stand sizes will remain in place, Brintex said there were plans to freshen up the floor plan for next year's event.
