Kingfisher businesses, Screwfix and B&Q, are doing their bit to help this year's Children in Need.
Screwfix is supporting the appeal for the eighth year running and will be donating the services of its whole call centre and contact team to take pledges from the public.

Employees from all areas of the business will be wearing fancy dress while they are in operation from 6.30 this evening (Friday) until 12.30am. Screwfix store staff from across the UK will also be donating their time to join the contact team at the company's call centre in Yeovil to help man the phones throughout the night.

Marketing director at Screwfix, John Mewett, commented: "We are delighted to be able to offer our support for Children in Need once again. Last year, we took thousands of calls and pledges from across the UK, which gives a great insight into how generous people are when it comes to supporting Children in Need. We are confident that we can help to exceed last year's total during this year's fundraising drive, and I'd like to thank those staff members who are travelling from as far as Northampton to help."

Meanwhile, a member of staff at the B&Q branch in Inverness has been serenading customers with his guitar as he, and other staff at the store, raise money for this year's appeal.

Musician and kitchen and bathroom department sales assistant at the store, Stephen Fiorentini, has been singing and playing his guitar at the store over the past few weeks and wants to raise £4,000.

"I've been playing my guitar at work to help raise a bit of money," said 21-year-old Mr Fiorentini. "I think they're well over half way towards their target now." He also raised extra money at a local pub by performing during a break from a band that was already playing there. "It's all for a good cause," he said.

Mr Fiorentini plays many styles of guitar from classical to jazz and blues, and already has a number of notable appearances and recordings to his name.
