Rothley supports Carvers in re-build following fire

Rothley, the Wolverhampton-based supplier of DIY and hardware products, has supplied local builders merchant Carvers Building Supplies with a full range of products as part of its redevelopment following a serious fire.

The huge blaze in February 2012 caused devastation to the Carvers site in central Wolverhampton. Around 90 firefighters fought to control the flames, which could be seen for miles around, and many thought it might be the end for the 118-year-old family-owned business.

However, Carvers set up a temporary warehouse and the fire-damaged buildings were demolished, and at the end of 2012 the business announced that work could begin on a brand new £4m warehouse and office. Carvers finally re-opened for business last month.

As part of the redevelopment a new showroom and 'builders village' have been built and Rothley has supplied a new run of products nearly 20ft long, including displays of wardrobe rail, handrail, twin-slot shelving, profiles, metal sheets and new sliding and folding door systems, including a full working display.

Rothley marketing manager Alan Bowell commented: "We're delighted to have played a part in the re-build of such an important local company. Carvers are something of an institution in Wolverhampton and their strength and resilience has to be admired."
