Rated People appoints Dale Murray CBE to Board

Published: 20 September 2021 - Nei Mead

Find-a-tradesperson platform, Rated People, has appointed Dale Murray CBE to its board as a Non-Executive Director.

In this role, Dale will draw on her strong combination of experience as a tech entrepreneur and highly experienced board director to support and guide the entire team across the business. This varied experience will bring a new level of depth and breadth to Rated People’s board, building on the company’s recent achievements and accelerating its future success.

2021 is proving to be a landmark year for Rated People. The business has already appeared on the Sunday Times’ 100 Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work For, London’s 50 Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work For, and the Business Services’ 20 Best Companies to Work For. Rated People also achieved profitability for the first time and will focus on profitable growth for the remaining half of this year.

Dale co-founded Omega Logic which launched mobile phone “top-ups” in the UK in 2001. Within 5 years the company’s gross transaction revenue had grown to £450m per annum and she completed the sale of the company to First Data Corporation, giving her first-hand experience of scaling a successful business. Since then, Dale has become a successful tech investor and held board roles in start-up through to listed companies, as well as British government departments. She served on the Business Taskforce for David Cameron in 2013 and received a CBE from Her Majesty the Queen, for services to business.

In addition to her new role with Rated People, Dale is a Non-Executive Director with property finance platform LendInvest plc, financial services specialists The Cranemere Group and Xero, a global cloud accounting software platform listed on the ASX 50.

Adrian Cox, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rated People, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Dale to Rated People. As a co-founder of a successful company, Dale knows what it takes to start, run and scale a business. She brings a huge amount of experience across a range of capital structures, including public markets, private equity, and IPOs. Her passion for the people behind Rated People, and its customers, will also be a huge asset. Plus, her understanding of our customer set will make her a strong advocate for Rated People’s users in the board room.”

Dale Murray, Non-Executive Director, Rated People, commented: “I am thrilled to have joined Rated People as a Non-Executive Director. The company has already developed a reputation as an innovator and is passionate about being a great partner to trades businesses, as well as helping homeowners find skilled tradespeople. That resonates with me, and my love for technology platforms and long history with start-ups and scale-ups will help us build on the achievements to date.

People and culture have always been a priority for me in business; I believe that how we treat each other and our customers is critical to success. Rated People has terrific talent and clearly invests a lot in its culture, which is one of the reasons it has been so successful to date. This is what really stood out for me and why I look forward to helping the business continue its journey.”
