QVC launches two new channels

Published: 9 August 2013
Home shopping channel QVC has launched two new channels, one dedicated to its fashion lines and the other, QVC Extra, showing the best of its entire product range.
QVC, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, stocks a wide range of home improvement brands including Burgon & Ball, Hayloft Plants, Kelly Hoppen, Thompson & Morgan and Kitchenaid.

Both new channels will be available to view 24/7 on Sky, Freesat, Freeview (for viewers with internet connected TVs) and qvcuk.com. QVC Extra will also be available on QVC's main TV channel between the hours of 2am and 9am.

Meanwhile, QVC Active on Sky Interactive has been switched off, as more and more customers opt to use smartphones and tablets to order.

The official launch date for the two new channels is August 13.

Said QVC chief merchandising officer Steve Bridgeman: "QVC Beauty has been hugely successful, which is why we are launching QVC Style and QVC Extra as standalone specialist channels for our viewers.

"It's also good news for our vendors as they have another opportunity to reach customers who want to watch specific product categories. We're switching off the QVC Active service as customers, whether at home or on-the-go, are using our faster mobile apps to order."

Very disappointed that Active has been switched off. Not everyone uses mobile apps etc to place orders.
Yet another instance of shutting some groups of people out.
