It is only a few days since a brand new specialist power tool shop opened in Somerset but the owner reports that business has been "very good so far".

Ian Everett Giles launched his new enterprise, IM Tools, a week ago today in Burnham-on-Sea, having previously worked for 18 years with Bristol-based retailer Bell Tools.

He told diyweek.net: "I was getting asked to open a shop locally because there's nothing like this in the surrounding area. I haven't done much advertising, it's just been word of mouth really, and the first week has been very good so far."

He said that Bell Tools, which is one of the biggest sellers of Makita power tools in the south of England and some 35 miles away from his own shop, is supplying him with Makita products. Other major brands within the new shop include Hitachi and Milwaukee, and Mr Everett Giles is also supplying plastering tools and electricians' tools. "And if I haven't got it I can get it pretty much the next day," he said.

IM Tools expects to attract both DIY and trade customers. "But I mainly cater for the trade guys - I open at 7.00 in the morning," said Mr Everett Giles.

What a find! Been looking for a particular (odd sized) drill bit for ages - Ian went straight to it and sent me on my way rejoicing :)

Tiny premises (he's looking to expand) but awsome stock and all at highly competitive prices.

Really nice guy... born to succeed. Good luck.

I've been in a few times. I've found them very helpful especially for getting those hard to find parts which I've found difficult and expensive to find on the internet. Plenty of useful honest advice on tool purchases and really competitive prices. Thanks
