New identity for family-run Home Hardware store

Published: 3 October 2012
Jacques Home Hardware - named for the four Jacques family members who run it - is the fresh new identity marking a new era for the Market Rasen hardware store.
The shop's story begins five years ago when Alison and Robert Jacques bought Priceless, a store in the heart of Market Rasen, near Lincoln. Although this was their first venture into the hardware industry, the couple recognised the store's potential and with the support of Home Hardware, turned the store into a great success.

With four family members now recruited into the business, the Jacques said it felt right to mark the store's five year anniversary with a change of name. Together with long-serving assistant Pat Bates, they unveiled the all new Jacques Home Hardware.

Robert Jacques said: "We are pleased to be building a sustainable hardware business for the next generation, and it fills us with great pride to have our family name above the store."

"One of the many srenghts of being a family run and independent business is that we can quickly respond and adapt to accommodate customers' requirements," added Alison Jacques. "Since taking on the store we have introduced free local delivery and recently brought in a new loyalty scheme.

"We also identified the need for additional ranges and introduced paint mixing, key cutting, and bottled gas. We also work closely with our dedicated Retail Advisor at Home Hardware, to explore new retail opportunities that could work for us, and new for this year, we've sold plants and spring bulbs, both with excellent results."

The launch of Jacques Home Hardware saw bunting, balloons, cake and a charity raffle raising more than £350 for LIVE First Responders. With a population of just 5,000, Market Rasen is the smallest town selected as part of the original Portas Pilot project.
