Making an exhibition of themselves

Published: 19 March 2010
Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, textile and wallpaper brand Sanderson is the subject of an exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum, London.
Making an exhibition of themselves
The exhibition, which opened today (March 19) and runs until June 13, charts both the rise of the British brand, as well as the social history and context within which it has operated for the past century and a half.

The exhibition, curated by textile writer Mary Schoeser, showcases papers and fabrics from throughout Sanderson's history, charting the many fashions and trends that have come and gone (and in most cases come around again).

To celebrate its anniversary, Sanderson has launched Vintage, a collection of nine wallpapers, nine prints and two embroideries, all selected from the Sanderson archive (a detail from 'Eglantine' is shown as the background to the exhibition guide, above).
