Retailers interested in attending this year's Global DIY Summit in Berlin have just days to register for an Early Bird discount, which expires on March 15.

The two day event promises to be an unmissable one in the DIY calendar, with topics up for discussion including the global challenges of today's market, as well as Brexit, the rising opportunities in the garden market, and a look into why – and how – big box DIY retailers may be losing their relevance. Organisers are expecting more than 900 delegates from over 50 countries in comparison to last year's 800 attendees in Stockholm.

The theme for this year is 'A New Era – A Glimpse into the Future of Home Improvement,' and this is a topic upon which the programme of speakers certainly look set to deliver. Keynote speakers include Sergio Giroldi OBI, Kai Herzberger from Facebook and Google's Jannika Bock. Other popular draws come in the form of David Domoney, who will be discussing the garden centre market, and a talk on how DIY retailers can find their own, unique benchmark to accelerate growth in their business hosted by Jumia's Jeremy Hodara, Neil Cowie from Mitre 10, Bricoalliance's Patrick Cassidy and Tasunori Ishiguro from DCM Holdings.

The conference will include a glamorous gala dinner at the Velodrom Berlin, one of the city's largest arenas and an impressive setting for the celebration of Global DIY Lifetime Award, which this year is going to Gregory M. Bridgeford of Lowe's. One of the most well-known and respected individuals of the industry, Mr Bridgeford is no stranger to the Global DIY Summit, having delivered a keynote at the very first event in Brussels in 2011. He will be presented with his award on June 8.
