Husqvarna says it will invest 'whatever we need' to promote Gardena

Published: 11 December 2007
Marketing manager says the growth and development of the Gardena is a priority.
Husqvarna has revealed its plans for Gardena in 2008 by saying it is committed to growing the German brand in the UK.

Husqvarna's head of UK marketing, John Thompson, said: "We are excited to have Gardena in our brand portfolio and will be investing whatever we need in order to ensure that Gardena becomes a recognised name across the UK."

Earlier this year Gardena, one of Europe's largest gardening brands was acquired by the Husqvarna Group.

In the UK, this means that Gardena has joined gardening consumer brands such as Flymo and McCulloch as part of the portfolio offered from Husqvarna UK.

Husqvarna stressed that the growth and development of the consumer brands in the future is a major priority within the business, and called on the supply chain to help it realise its aims.

"Husqvarna UK is enhancing all aspects of its business and emphasises that it remains committed to supporting all retailer partners, working with them to build on existing relationships and also to develop and take advantage of any future opportunities," the company said in a statement.

It added that initial plans are now being developed to establish Gardena as a household name.

This will involve a full strategic marketing review for products sold across the UK.

In November, distributor Solus ended its 20-year relationship with Gardena after the two parties failed to reach agreement on arrangements going forward.
