The award recognises companies or individuals that have contributed to the success of the sector and is highly regarded and valued.

GCA Chief Executive, Peter Burks said: “Each year in the run up to the conference we ask our garden centre members for their thoughts on who should be our Associate Member of the Year.

“Members vote for the company that has helped their centre the most, for example by offering the best service, new products or marketing assistance.

“This year we were delighted to announce that Wyevale Nurseries scooped this prestigious title and was presented with the Haskins Stewarts Cup at our 2023 conference.”

Hundreds of garden centres and Associate Members of the GCA attended this year’s annual conference at the Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa in Blackburn, Lancashire from January 22 until 25.

Among the attendees was Ian Wright, who is Commercial Sales Director at Wyevale Nurseries. He said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this wonderful award for our role in the industry and in recognition of the range of plants and the service we offer to our garden centre customers.

“Every year our teams work exceptionally hard to bring new plants and ideas to market and to support our customers. It’s a testament to all their dedication and commitment that we’ve received this fantastic award.”

Wyevale Nurseries is just one of many garden centre industry suppliers that belong to the GCA and is signed up as Associate Members.

Peter added: “Many garden centre suppliers don’t realise that they can join us. We welcome applications from any supplier offering products or services relevant to our garden centre members.

“We offer the opportunity to communicate and network with some of the UK’s leading garden centres. Anyone interested in joining and potentially becoming one of our Associate Members of the Year in the future, can find out more at https://gca.org.uk/suppliers/.”

The GCA represents garden centres nationwide. Through sharing information and its inspection programme the GCA helps members to achieve high standards in customer service, plant quality and reliability.
